McGill ready to go!

Two in one day! Welcome to the team Rickey McGill, a talented point guard with 4 years pro experience in Europe. Hailing from Spring Valley New York, McGill recently compiled averages of 16.9 PTS, 3.6 REB, 5.3 AST & 2.0 STL on 50.7% FG (46.7% 3PT) in 11 games with Sopron KC in Hungary. His experience at the pro level is going to be invaluable according to Head Coach, Daniel Sokolovsky

"Rickey McGill is something of a hidden gem. He was making a textbook rise up the ranks of European basketball before being slightly derailed by an ill-timed injury. In each of his previous professional destinations, his arrival to the team coincided with a clear shift in team performance. It’s this winning mentality that makes him a special addition to the Franklin Bulls.

He couples tremendous speed with the ball with a high level feel for when to move the ball and create advantages for his teammates. Off the ball, he will likely be one of the best spot shooters in the competition. His understanding of the game combined with his rich skill set make him ideally suited for our style of play. He will enable us to play fast without being rushed. We will rely on him to be a steady decision maker and creator - something he has shown he is more than capable of at each stage of his career.

His foot speed and high IQ will make him a key piece of our defense - harassing opposing ball handlers and being a menace in anticipating passes when our defense is put into rotation.

Rickey will be at the pre-season hit-out against the Auckland Tuatara Sunday 26th at the Stockyard (Franklin Pool Leisure Pukekohe), tip off at 5.30pm.
