Sharp shooter and Bulls stalwart Payton Hughes returns to the SalsNBL and the Bulls for the 2025 season.

Hughes is known for his shooting and has been a top scorer throughout Auckland Regional competitions. He too was a part of the Franklin Basketball U20 Mens team who qualified 1st in Zone 1 (Upper North Island) and finished 6th at Nationals- best placing for any Franklin Basketball team yet at a National Tournament.

Along with teammates Brody Perry, Corey Perry, KC Nwafor and Harri Coker-Grey, Payton was also apart of the inaugural Franklin Mens Tupu team to play at Nationals and lead the team in scoring, averaging 20.5 points a game, and was awarded Most Improved Player for this team.

"Payton is a hard working athlete who pushes his development to the next level at any opportunity given. He has proven to be a sharp shooter through his development in the Franklin Basketball program, with being a significant part of the Men's Tupu team and being award Most Improved for this team. I am excited to see Payton take more responsibility in his role within the squad this upcoming Sal's NBL Season." Says Coach Sebastian Gleim.

Payton is yet another local player from the Franklin Area taking the next step in representing the Bulls at the NBL level. He will no doubt continue to feature in both the NBL and Rapid League competitions throughout the season.
